Brussels – 5 December 2006 - The second phase of the SEMOPS project is to be launched in January 2007 for the market validation of the SEMOPS service in three countries (Hungary, Greece, Italy) with a number of service partners, banks and payment processors. |
Major service partners like SSB in Italy, three banks and GBC in Hungary and also Mellon and Nova Bank in Greece are participating in the 18 months long operation, which is to lead to the international introduction of SEMOPS as a Pan European payment service. The partners will each follow their own commercial programs while the individual operations will be interconnected to ensure interbank as well as cross border payments. It is expected that during the initial 18 months new banks and payment processors will join the service. |
